The East African Community is booming currently, people from different industries are exploiting the opportunity created by the union. We expect people from the ICT industry to do the same thing, since it is an opportunity to target larger audience with your idea or product. The challenges are from everywhere while Nairobi just recent was hosting the event Pivot East Kigali does the same with lot of innovative project aiming at bringing the town at the status of East Africa IT hub.  Quoted from the writer of white-African blog he said that Pivot East is about finding the tech startups with high-growth potential in the region and putting them on stage in front of investors, media and businesses. It’s about finding “what’s next” in East Africa’s vibrant mobile tech scene. Chances are, the best of these startups are providing highly innovative and disruptive solutions. The KINU projects for Tanzania startups projects is the proof that the competition is everywhere and people are ready to accept the challenge as the industry grows to its peak in the eastern part of Africa.
It’s great to witness this marvelous progress in the ICT industry in East Africa but the question remains in the awareness of ICT professionals about the existence of these projects and how to utilize the opportunity created by these startups programmes. Most of the ICT professionals and entrepreneurs in Tanzania have not yet realize the importance of these startups programmes and support provided by the business incubators created by the government and donors to help them improve their projects.
TANZICT stands for The Information Society and ICT Sector Development Project. It’s bilateral collaboration project between the Ministry of Communications, Science and Technology of Tanzania (MCST) and Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. This project is there for us small ICT entrepreneurs with our valuable ideas to go and exploit them with all the resources around you. They are there to support us and until now they have done a marvelous work in providing support whenever is needed. Incubators are there but they won’t have a meaning if they are not fulfilling the purpose of their existence. It is up to us to go there with our ideas and meet the responsible people who will help us by supporting our ideas and help us reach our goals. To read more details about TanzICT read here…
