The do’s and don’ts in mobile banking

Recently most people in our communities have been dwelling into techno-services since they are time saving and more efficiency compared to the manual system used to exist before that. We no longer have to stand in the long queues at the banks or waiting at the local electric payment office with a lot of bureaucracy waiting to pay electric bill. Yes, definitely is a great achievement compared from where we come from but “in every action there is equal and opposite reaction” Sir Isaac Newton. It works in laws of physics but it is practically working in real life also. Mobile banking has come up with a lot of challenges also although its efficiency, time saving and easy to use. Before starting to use mobile banking services you should know the following:
The value of your password, recently I heard on the news people have been receiving text messages and calls from “social engineers” people who use trickery methods to get your details and use it abusively to attain your personal data or even steal at your account never send your password to anyone I repeat anyone even if he said is from a bank, is better to take a risk and drop to the bank instead taking a risk of witnessing your savings lost in the dark.
Understand the service, take your time to understand the service before start using it and don’t just use it because everyone is using the service. Remember, if the money got lost is yours not anyone else’s. If there is some digits you need to know or some number to dial make sure you write it somewhere and confirm several time before starting using it.
Always save the details somewhere, the inbox confirmation messages of the services you receive after transaction they are very vital to you. It is the only possible way to track your money once it is misplaced in the network or being received by unexpected recipient in the process of sending it.  Do not just delete the message soon after transaction you might want to have a backup of it’s in your records in your PC if the transaction was a large amount of money.  These messages usually contain details like time of transaction, transaction ID number, place where it was sent and received and so on, these details are vital to the guy at the customer services.
Don’t take chances, if you are not sure to whom you are sending the money or if the service is agreeable to the other company don’t complete the transaction until you are sure on what you are doing for example, I had some serious trouble one time when I sent some money to my young sister at Dodoma University expecting it is possible for her to receive money in her Vodacom M-PESA account while I sent the money using Tigo PESA, actually I lost the money until today. I don’t say it is not working but a lot of disturbances might occur. Enjoy the technology but please always be aware of the risks behind you all the time.
