Communications Act to spur ICT accepted in Uganda……….

Uganda Parliament
The Ugandan Parliament has passed into law the Uganda Communications Regulatory Authority Bill 2012, making it the Uganda Communications Act 2012. The legislators also created a content committee to attend to complaints of content abuse from different media channels, the Monitor reported. The state minister for ICT, Nyombi Thembo, said the new law seeks to clarify the merging of the two regulatory bodies, the Broadcasting Council and the Uganda Communications Commission, but leaves out a lot needed to support the communication industry. Thus as a result players, regulators and the ICT ministry are seeking to ensure that the enforcement of a National ICT Policy takes into consideration issues like technological changes, innovations and components and developments in the ICT industry.
