Huawei
Technologies, a global ICT service provider, has celebrated its 11 years of
business in Uganda. As part of its celebration of 11-years of business in the
East African country, Huawei Technologies officially opened a new office in the
capital, Kampala.
Speaking at
the opening of the new offices, Huawei managing
director for Uganda, Eric Yang, said
his company was proud to be associated with progress it made in the East
African Region. Yang said Huawei had registered tremendous success in the ICT
sector, especially telecommunications and better environment that supported
research and development in the country. Meeting
customers' demands
"Huawei
business is on the rise day by day and our innovative is becoming outstanding
to meet the demands of various customers in Uganda," Yang said.
Chinese
Ambassador to Uganda, Zhao Ya Li said the Chinese government was pleased to be
associated with Huawei, saying it had played a big role in developing ICT
sector, not only for Uganda, but for Africa through various innovations.
"Huawei
has made us [China] proud while making huge business in Uganda. It [Huawei] has
focused on developing the ICT sector of the country, in their dream of
enriching life through communication, and I would like to applaud Huawei for
sharing its development technology from China with Uganda through the knowledge
transfer initiative with most of its employees.
In Uganda,
Huawei entered the market in 2001 and has expanded and built productive
cooperation with Ugandan telecommunication operators as well as constructing
backbone network for Uganda with the preferential loan of import and export
bank of china.
