Foreign
Affairs minister Professor Sam Ongeri has said the government recognized the importance of ICT in
national development and has initiated major programmes to spur the growth of
the sector.
Speaking in
Nairobi during the launch of portfolio of products and services offered through
global partnership in information and communication technology, the minister
said the government is facilitating the development of a national ICT
infrastructure.
"This
will ensure the availability of accessible, efficient, reliable and affordable
ICT services in the country," Ongeri said. The minister said that through
Nairobi, commercial companies are within reach of the five EAC member states.
