The Zambian
government recently restricted the approved radius of the Lusaka-based University of Zambia (UNZA) Radio, a training unit of the Department of Mass
Communication, to within the campus grounds. The decision has come after the
government claimed that the radio station is not abiding with Government
regulations guiding the radio stations.
There have
been some complaints from the stakeholders most of them complaining the
decision were made politically for the benefit of some individuals rather than
the community itself. People have been complaining the current government is
breaking its own accord by doing this.
“This
government has been telling us that the media is more free after PF came into
government than before. What can they say now? Are they able to repeat the same
words again? Its a shame to have people who can never stick to one statement.
It is a government of flip-flops. Nothing is permanent. Next time they begin
asking us to buy the Post only. I…ts. Malupenga is an i…t. If you want to prove
it, check the way he speaks. He is so deceitful.” Reader’s post in Lusaka Times.
