Intercollege technology innovative competitions means to success

Ankit Fadia most reputed Indian hacker of all time is among the people who were noted in early stages of their carriers due to the school competitions and college exhibitions. The culture of making brave people to compete for something is what makes India especially Bangalore among the leading producers of most influential people in the tech industry today. I don’t have to tell you the founder of Hotmail Sabeer Bhatia was coming from the out scarce of Bangalore before he sold his company for millions to Microsoft.

It is the time our colleges and universities in Tanzania invest just more than what is written in the curriculum. Funding innovative projects and allowing people to compete in different fields in the tech industry will give us the opportunity to find a valuable peace of metal inside the mixed iron core. In Tanzania there is a lot of youth with ideas just waiting to be invented some of them they even have models of their projects but where would they portray their skills.

We have dressing and singing competitions for colleges but where do we have a place for tech geeks who want to show off their skills. I was expecting to hear a large IT event prepared in Dar es Salaam where by all the colleges with Computer science and Information technology faculties come together for exhibition or some thought of creative competition to enhance the skills of our student. I wonder why most of the students they hate coding in Tanzania it is just because there isn’t enough motivation to choose development as their main carrier.

I remember when I was in my first year in India I had an opportunity to participate and compete in a software exhibition competition at the Christ University believe it was the best experience of my life. It was the time I learnt something called “user experience” and for the first time I was challenged on my work. From that day my dream was to be a developer and thank God I just achieved it.

There is a lot of tech companies in Tanzania who can facilitate these kind of projects we need the decision makers and the tech players on the top of their game to exercise these kinds of events to give more opportunity to the youth in the game to achieve something. To start with I give out a challenge some should host “The inter-college software competition” were will bring together all colleges and Universities in Tanzania practicing ICT in one place ready for competition and to extract new innovative ideas from the smart minds.
