My friend said it as if he was
joking after the recent sinking of another ship in the Indian ocean were by we
witness our family members, friends and relatives lost their life just because
they didn’t have the enough details about the harsh weather in the Indian ocean
on the day they were traveling. I thought about the occasion and said to
myself if an android HTC smartphone is able to display weather forecast for the
day why shouldn’t it be able to display things like wind speed, tides condition
and other things necessary to be known by an individual before travelling
through the sea.
The app would give an option to the traveler about to travel or not, since sometimes there is a lot of bureaucracy
in the system which led to these kinds of unnecessary accidents. The whole
sense of having technology we want it to be able to impact our lives directly.
I think it’s a time for East African geeks in the hubs and labs to come up with
something to overcome this problem. If not for money then at least do it for the
reason of giving back to the community and saving lives. I wish I could have
the knowledge I could have started to develop the application today and make
sure it’s available free for download to all phones that’s people before traveling in the sea they just check
their phones if it safe to travel through the sea.
