I have this
project entitled Tanzapedia is about, a free online encyclopedia about
Tanzania. “It is Tanzania on Tanzanians perception” that is the slogan behind
the project.
The project
is big it cover all the regions in Tanzania, giving details about each city and
local towns found. From the weather forecast of the city to the origin of its
name, simply everything the region has to offer. I started the project few
months back; I have already developed the pilot of the project. I have
collected a lot of articles and resources from the local communities.
From the tribes
eating habits and so many other stuffs, the site has been made in such a way
that people can contribute on the article by posting directly on the site and
the admin will verify their post before allowing it to be the part of the
article using AJAX and PHP.
The project has used several open source platforms for making charts and pictorial presentations. Most of the mathematical details have been calculated using Wolfram Alpha search engine and
detailed information about Tanzanian cities, history and culture
have obtained them from Google books from the local Tanzanian writers.
The project
is available for free for any one soon. I will upload it for every to see but
if there is going to be an individual who want to continue the project by
himself. Please contact me before the end of this week before I give the access
to everyone.
I want
someone who is passionate, committed and technology enthusiasts to continue with
the project. I will provide him with all the materials and resources I have for
him to accomplish the task. Geeks out there, this is your opportunity, use it
