Exploit the East African sport community online…..

It’s amazing when we see people utilizing the opportunity that lies in our communities. Most of the people in East African local communities are looking for the local contents sites to cover the sport news and events. The sites like futaa.com in Kenya which currently have the Nigerian edition of the site have just saw the opportunity and using it. There is a large population of the football enthusiast communities who are looking for the local content and the number is increasing every day.
When I reach at the office on Monday morning, being a football fan myself I would like to visit Soccernet.com or footyroom.com to preview the results of the last night matches and to watch the highlights of the live games played yesterday. But what if I want to watch or get the result of the game played at the local fields in Tanzania, where should I go?

Some people have at least tried to give us the live updates and stories via their blogs. Sport blogs of Tanzania like shaffidauda.com or edgarkibwana.blogspot.com. The guys have been covering sports with the local contents or at least covering international sport with the local languages so that people they can understand have proven themselves to be very successful in terms of online business.

Hint: Shafiidauda.com has more than 4,000,000 million page views approaching 4.5 million in few days to come. Shafii Dauda is just a Tanzania sport commentator who becomes creative enough to realize the opportunity that lies on the online Tanzanian sport community.

In reality people are desperate for the local contents online wither its sport, recreation or political site, believe me everything thing is on demand. All you have to do is to be creative and give people what they want. The current post on Shaffidauda.com is about Real Madrid losing to Getafe on the match played yesterday. You can imagine how updated the blogger is. He is using the tool that most of us we are having trouble to exploit “the local language”. He is using the Swahili slain in which every youth in the street understand and seems to be cool for them to read and interact with the blogs. Am sure the guy is making good money out of his blogging business if not from the AdSense then at least from the local ads he posted on his blog.

There is a big lesson to learn from these guys. You can have your own startup which covers more than just E.A football. You can cover other sports also so that you can get both, the traffic of the football fans and the traffic from other sports fans.
I like futaa.com since the guys are creative and they have the potential to grow. I remember one time I was doing one project and I was about to embed their Tanzania Vodacom premier league widget on my site since they allow you to just do that you just have to be familiar with PHP  little. Just think about it, how many Tanzania would like to know the progress of their local leagues without buying the newspapers on waiting for a radio station evening news to ear yesterday sports results. The answer is many. So simply creating a sport widget for the local league and embed it to your site can be a major source of traffic to your website or blog. The opportunities are there for us to utilize. Four million and counting even I will be ready to advertise with your blog for my local products.
