Tech solution for the Tanzanian land conflicts.....

Recently has been a lot of tension between locals and foreigners especially in rural areas about the ownership of the lands. The government has been facing a lot of challenges to either to decide to keep the land for the locals or provide to the foreign investors but what matters most is the right of the owner of the land.
Indigo trust has announced to issue £10,000 as grants to ActionAid inorder to support the project on map incidents of land grabbing in rural Tanzania.

Hint: The Indigo Trust, a London foundation that funds technology-driven projects that inspire positive social change.

ActionAid will use mobile technology and innovative online crowdmap to accomplish the task. They will expose cases of land grabbing and generate evidence for people to claim their rights, land and livelihoods hence resolve the conflicts. Around 435,840 hectares of land earmarked for biofuels production in Tanzania, land grabbing by foreign investors is a considerable problem. They will provide support to the victims to attain their lost land back.

In addition to helping local citizens, the information collected via this project will be published and fed to national and international media. It is hoped that the availability and visibility of the data will then allow campaigners, journalists and researchers to apply pressure on political and commercial interests and hold them to account. If successful, this model could easily be exported to other countries and problems.
