In an interview with the member of Mbeya living Lab Mr. Said Ramadhani Mdee about their initiative which is aiming at
creating some awareness about ICT and technological advancement in the North Tanzanian region.
Mr. Mdee explained about their effort
to create rooms for local individuals to come and learn about basic knowledge of
computing activities. Currently they are aiming at teaching individuals on how
to use the social media applications and social networking site so that at least they
manage to have the basic skills on online communication.
The reason of teaching
them this aspect of technology is to try to remove the ideology in their mind
that technology is for well educated people and some class in their
communities, he said. He said most of the people in Northern Tanzania especially
in rural areas they lack awareness on digital devices usage especially computer
and some of them are even afraid of using these devices.
According to Mr. Mdee English is among
the main challenge which faces them since most of the people they are afraid to
use computers thinking that, computers are just for English speaking class of
their communities. Current they have been working to remove this perception in
people’s minds and the effort is seems to be working since most of the people are
interested to join their mission. To
