In the
process of competing with the rival mobile companies in Tanzania in mobile
money transaction. Tigo Tanzania has announced on their press release that now
the subscribers and the Tigo Pesa users will receive the transaction service
for free through Money transfer by converting the service charges into airtime,
said Tuli Mwaikenda, Tigo Public Relations Officer in a press statement issued
in Dar es Salaam.
She also
said “Both the sender and the receiver must be Tigo Pesa registered
subscribers. Senders will receive up to 1,500 and a receiver who cashes-out
will receive up to 5,000/- worth of airtime”. She said Tigo subscribers in Dar es Salaam
region, who use Tigo Pesa will get their transfer fees back in air time when
sending money to regions other than Dar es Salaam and the receiver will also
get their cash-out fees as free airtime.
She said the
security system of the Tigo Pesa services is convincing since Tigo has taken major
security measure on their service. She also said the notification SMS will be
sent for the bonus value of the airtime to the Tigo Pesa subscribers showing
that they have been awarded for the transaction in the next day.
