Tigo has come up with the plan to facilitate access to the
mobile internet to its subscribers. The new project of Tigo Internet Jamaa will
see their customers getting directly assistance from professionals who are
coming from the local Tigo offices in Tanzania.
Project Manager Mr. Titus Katuma said the aim of the project
is to boost internet usage, taking advantage of the faster and affordable data availability
brought about by the fiber optic cables. “The internet penetration is still low
even to mobile customers who could access it using their handsets” The company
will create teams of professionals who will visit local people and explain to
them on how to access the internet through their phones.
Katuma said that the lack of awareness and the language
barrier is among the major reasons that their subscribers are not able to
access and utilize the internet effectively. Lately MIC the parent company of
Tigo Tanzania has been recognized as one of the 15 winners in the G20 Challenge
on Inclusive Business Innovation.
Tigo internet Jamaa will be visiting different places on
specified dates according to the scheduled appointment of the Tigo
professionals who will be passing in these areas.
