Vodacom Tanzania has launched the Vodacom award for digital excellence that seeks to recognize the achievement of bloggers and website .. Leading telecommunications company, Vodacom Tanzania, Vodacom is excited to launch the inaugural Vodacom Award for Digital Excellence.
“It is our hope that by launching this Awards and Fellowship program we will be able to play a part in this pivotal moment in Tanzania’s digital sector. Through this program we will highlight individuals that are at the cutting edge of digital technology and provide them an award, support and mentorship. It is for this reason that we are awarding them for the efforts and the change they have brought,” says Meza.
The award, dubbed Vodacom Award of Digital Excellence, will see ten best blogs and websites rewarded for their efforts and achievements, a move that is a first for Vodacom Tanzania. This is an award and fellowship program developed as a sign of our commitment to developing the digital content sector in Tanzania.
Vodacom Tanzania Managing Director, Rene Meza, says Vodacom sees digital publishing, production and communication as very important to developing society.
The inaugural fellows from the Blog/Website category were selected through a closed nomination process by some of the Technology industry’s leading experts. To qualify for the fellowship nominees had to meet a robust criteria including but not limited to: Promoting the creation of local original content, upholding the tenets of a free media and showing promise for important future advances. Future fellows will be nominated through an open nomination process.
Some of the qualities to be considered in rewarding include, among others, creation and/or distribution of original local content; upholding the tenets of free expression and an open and fair media; demonstration of regular audience through readership, engagement, reputation and traffic excellence in narrative, photographic and/or multimedia use.
Vodacom will be announcing the first set of fellows in the coming week and look forward to highlighting some of the best digital talent in the country.
